This was my first outcome from First Year Uni, where we had to create a design that capsulated techniques that we learnt that semester as well as introducing some sort of theme/concept. My Collection is called Electrisised- it's focus is primarily neon coloured tones that was inspired by Andy Warhol and Ai Wei Wei exhibition shown at the NGV in 2016.

The way i have interpreted this stimulus towards my design is through use of neon fluorescent threads and highlighting edges constructed of seams. Movement and line are the two key elements my design focuses on.

My design explores pattern making skills that i adopted that semester. Skills such as flaring, grading, sewing a zip, dropping the crotch, gathering and adding ribbing to the ankle cuffs.

I explored a technique I was familiar with, called the free hand machine embroidery decorative stitch. This was used to brighten and covey a more attractive aesthetic to the restricted constraint of using the black main polyester fabric, which was given to us by our studio leader.
